Nasal Flare Reduction

What is Nasal Flaring?

If you’re breathing and your nostrils broaden (open up) this is known as Nasal Flaring. This is commonly associated with difficulty breathing.

Using Botox for Nose Flare

As we know that Botox is useful in paralysing or weakening muscles, it generally isn’t recommended for nasal injections. We know that there are many muscles that may act on the sidewalls and the base of the nose. Unfortunately, those muscles may also affect your smile.  Although it can be argued that Botox can be used to prevent dynamic changes in the shape of the nose.  Most commonly, Botox can be used for Nasal Flare Reduction as it keeps the nostrils from flaring during facial expressions or keep the nasal tip from drooping when you smile (as it does for some people). As always results are temporary which is both good and bad.

As discussed Botox injections can change the dynamics of your smile but it will not change the size and shape of your nose. The nose should be evaluated with the face at rest.
