What Are Lip Fillers?

These treatments involve carefully administered injections to enhance the volume and shape of your lips, creating a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Dr. Hennessy can add volume to both the upper and lower lips for a more youthful look. In some cases, only one lip may require treatment to achieve the desired effect. For others, the focus may be solely on refining or correcting lip shape. Visit our Instagram page, @drhennessycosmetic, to see our latest work and transformations.

What Happens When You Have Lip And Face Fillers?

Here at Dr Hennessey, we understand that your main concern is what to expect, how it will turn out and of course that the treatment is being completed by a qualified and experienced practitioner. You can book your procedure with peace of mind because all of our non-surgical procedures are carried out personally by cosmetic facial rejuvenation expert Dr Stephen Hennessy BDS.

Consultations are available to discuss your needs and what you want to achieve. Often, an anaesthetic cream is applied to numb the skin and lip area, although it may be slightly uncomfortable the treatment should not be painful. The length of time the treatment takes is dependent on the type of treatment, for this particular lip procedure you can usually expect the process to take around 30 minutes.

What To Do After The Treatment?

The affected area may be a bit red, sore and swollen. Any swelling or bruising should settle down in a few days. During the consultation and again during the treatment, you will be given instructions on how to minimise the chance of side effects. This includes refraining from applying make-up right after the treatment.

What Are The Risks?

The risks of dermal fillers depend on whether the procedure was done correctly and the type of filler used. Speak to your practitioner about the risks. Dr Hennessy will only use the safest and most effective filler, and has over 20 years experience so that overfilled and lumpy lips just don’t happen. Serious problems and allergic reactions are rare and during our 20 years we have not yet seen any occur.

If this is your first visit to Dr Hennessy clinics, one of his nurses will call you two weeks after treatment. However, as discussed during the appointment, if you ever experience anything you are concerned about, we give you a number to call immediately.

    FAQs

    What do lip fillers do?

Lip fillers add volume, shape, and definition to the lips using a soft hyaluronic acid-based gel. This helps restore balance and symmetry, smooth fine lines around the mouth, and enhance your overall facial proportions for a natural, youthful look.

What can I expect during a lip filler treatment at Dr Hennessy Clinics?

At Dr Hennessy Clinics, your lip filler journey begins with a comprehensive consultation to discuss your aesthetic goals and assess your suitability for the procedure. During the treatment, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to numb the lips, ensuring minimal discomfort. The procedure typically takes around 30 minutes, during which carefully administered injections enhance the volume and shape of your lips for a natural and balanced appearance.

How long do the results of lip fillers last, and what is the aftercare process?

The longevity of lip filler results varies depending on individual factors and the type of filler used, but they generally last between 6 to 9 months. Post-treatment, you may experience mild swelling or bruising, which usually subsides within a few days. It’s advisable to avoid applying makeup immediately after the procedure and to follow any specific aftercare instructions provided during your consultation to ensure optimal results.

What are the potential risks of lip filler treatments, and how does Dr Hennessy mitigate them?

While lip filler treatments are generally safe, potential risks include swelling, bruising, or, in rare cases, allergic reactions. Dr Hennessy mitigates these risks by using only the safest and most effective fillers and by ensuring that all procedures are performed by highly qualified and experienced medical professionals. With over 20 years of experience in facial rejuvenation, Dr Hennessy prioritizes patient safety and natural-looking results.

What are the benefits of this treatment?

    Lip fillers can:
    -Restore lost volume
    -Define lip shape and borders
-Smooth fine lines around the mouth
-Create symmetry between the upper and lower lips
-Refresh and rejuvenate your overall facial appearance
When done correctly, the results are subtle, natural, and perfectly in proportion with your features.

What should I avoid after having the treatment?

Avoid applying pressure to your lips for the first 24 hours. Skip saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise on the day of treatment. Try not to drink alcohol for 24 hours, as it may increase swelling. Following your aftercare instructions helps ensure smooth healing and even results.

    Are lip fillers safe?

Yes. Lip fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that retains moisture and adds volume. When performed by an experienced medical professional, they are very safe and well-tolerated.

    Will my lips look natural?

Absolutely. Our goal is always to enhance your natural shape, not change it. We focus on balanced, proportionate results that suit your facial features and personal preferences.

    Can this treatment be reversed?

Yes. If you ever decide you would like to return to your natural lips, the filler can be safely dissolved using a specialist enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is a quick, straightforward process carried out in-clinic.

When can I wear makeup after treatment?

You can usually wear light makeup or lip balm after 24 hours. Avoid applying products directly to the lips immediately after your treatment to prevent irritation or infection.

Can I see before and after photos of lip filler results?

Absolutely. You can view more real patient results in our gallery. benefits of lip fillers
