What is this?
Many people suffer from excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis) which can lead to a great deal of social embarrassment.
The treatment of this disorder is conducted using Botox.
When small doses are injected into the skin, it blocks the actions of the nerves that supply the eccrine glands, this prevents the glands from producing sweat. One short treatment session can lead to a dramatic reduction, in some cases none, to the amount of perspiration produced. The procedure involves injecting a small amount of a solution of Botox into 10 to 15 places about 1cm apart and spread evenly in each armpit.
A course of treatment takes about 30 minutes. The effect only takes a few days to materialise and in most cases lasts for over 6 months.
